Why Ab Workouts Don’t Work

It’s an age-old question: Which stomach-targeting exercise is best when it comes to burning that troublesome belly fat? The correct answer may surprise you:

NONE!

Ab-based workout schemes simply don’t work, regardless of how persistent the myth saying otherwise happens to be! Exercising only a single muscle, or even a few muscles, is doomed to fail because you simply won’t be generating the metabolic response necessary to burn fat at a substantial rate. Anyone who tries to tell you otherwise is probably selling one of those ‘miracle workout machines’ that requires no effort on your part whatsoever.

The best way to lose weight and remain healthy is to do full-body workouts. For example, exercise routines that incorporate lunges, squats, deadlifts, presses, pulls, swings, etc., are going to get the heart racing and the metabolic rates soaring! By combining different types of exercise into a single routine, you are working harder, and therefore your body is releasing more endorphins and hormones necessary in losing weight – it’s as simple as that! As a side benefit of these types of exercises, you’ll be indirectly toning your stomach as well, even if you don’t think that’s where your energy is focused.

It is also important to remember that the most important aspect of losing weight happens to be your diet. No matter how hard you work out, if you’re eating too much junk food, you’ll be unable to get rid of that bothersome belly fat. Nutrition is key!

So, remember to stop wasting time with sit-ups, crunches, leg raises – and you definitely do not want to get anywhere near those silly contraptions seen in infomercials! No, instead make sure you look at intense, full-body workout routines that’ll affect your entire body and not just a single joint or muscle. Couple this with a maintained, healthy diet of whole, unprocessed foods and you’ll marvel at the results you achieve in no time!
